Colourful Eyeshadow to Wear Like Neutrals.

I feel that nowadays, colourful eye looks are becoming more prevalent as brands release palettes that deviate from the typical neutral shades. For instance, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance* and the Subculture* palette are both palettes that receive a lot of love by most people and are coined by many, as their "holy grail" palettes, despite the palettes' colourful shades. It's interesting how unique shades are currently being embraced by the general public, rather than just for editorial purposes. While some shades are receiving acceptance like reds, oranges, teals, and yellows, some shades, however, can be a bit too difficult to wear. Below, are shades that I believe to be perfect for the purpose of wearing colour, while simultaneously maintaining a wearable eye look. There's neutral tones, there's extremely vibrant colours, and then there's something in between that balances colour with wearability:

Shades that have a deep rich warm undertone can be easily wearable, even if the colour family is bold and different, such as deep oranges, reds, mustard yellows, purples, and even warm blues or teals. Warm colourful shades are like a different version of typical warm natural shades, but with just an injection of colour, so they can easily be blended with a natural brown shade on the eyes.

Subtle pastel shades can also be surprisingly wearable as they offer a wash of pigment that adds colour to the lids, but since they are not too vibrant, they do not look too stark on the eyes. Particularly, light pinks and even lavender can be easier to wear as they are not very bold and can easily be blended into the skin and camouflaged with your skin's undertone, depending on the undertone of the eyeshadow shade.

A while back, I also wrote a post offering a comprehensive guide for selecting different types of shades and tones for wearable colourful eyeshadow, which I hope is also helpful for you. Also, check below for other palettes that offer colourful eyeshadow shades that are not too unwearable or difficult to wear. Let me know what types of colourful shades you are willing to wear that sits right on the edge of your comfort zone!

  4. I love all the shades. When it comes to eyeshadow, you just have to try it out and see for yourself. I've had palettes I didn't think would work for "every day" but they did and I love them. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com
