What I'm Currently Doing Differently in My Makeup Routine.

It really is a never-ending process of realizing what works best for you. Simultaneously, preferences are constantly changing, which means you adopt different styles and trends, whether it be for makeup, fashion, or really anything. So, after inclining towards different styles and preferences over the past few months, I've only recently realized these different techniques that I feel have made a more pleasant outcome for myself.

I don't have extremely oily skin, but for some reason, no matter what foundation I'm wearing, even my favourite Maybelline Fit Me Foundation which is matte, I always get oily throughout the day. This means that the powder atop my skin breaks apart and looks like a mess. So, I've actually recently just been leaving my foundation as is and stop wearing powder all together ( I just set my undereyes) and let my skin breathe and lets the oils let loose, if you will.

On days where I opt for minimal makeup, instead of reaching for a low coverage foundation, I've actually just been using my favourite Maybelline Fit Me Concealer on my T-zone and undereyes. I love this concealer for that as it cancels out uneven pigmentation on my skin, while leaving a fresh natural dewy skin finish.
Dually, I've been using concealer for eyeshadow primer. I recently purchased the Urban Decay Primer Potion* and I haven't settled on a definite opinion on it; all I know is that it is not game changing as it's hyped up to be. So, I've gone back to priming my lids with concealer and not setting it - and I have seen a major difference! For some reason, not setting the concealer with a bone coloured shadow and just applying shadow on top has been working for me as it creates a tacky, yet opaque base that I was apparently needing.

Lipliners are something that I've never used until recently, but now that I've used it, I see a difference that I really appreciate. I have quite a natural sharp cupid's bow and sometimes I like to round it out a bit. I guess I've now just realized the wonders lipliners offer!

When it comes to brows, I always say it's a never ending journey. Recently I've consistently replaced unnatural opaque brows and have let my brows grow back to its natural bushy state. I've essentially been embracing bushy brows and have even been making them more fluffy. I've been doing this by only outlining my brows with my favourite brow pencil (L.A. Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil*) and slightly and lightly filling in the sparse areas; then I just brush my brow hairs upwards with clear brow gel. In fact, on minimal makeup days, I've only been going for the clear brow gel!

  1. These are interesting changes! I've been switching up my brow routine recently too. Not too drastically, just a lighter shade!
